In collaboration with MSSU, LMPSU, UPSA, CSBSU, IMMSA, MGYSU, PSA, HBSU, and PTSA!
Are YOU an undergraduate student with a burning passion for science? Would you like the opportunity to test your knowledge outside of the classroom? ๐Ÿงช CULSC is a Jeopardy-style science competition that brings together undergraduate university students from all across Canada! This FREE, jam packed weekend will be filled with competition, an opportunity to showcase your science knowledge, and a chance to engage with students from across Canada!
๐Ÿงช Teams of up to four undergraduate students must register in advance for this event. Students may also register individually, if they would prefer to be matched with other individual registrants.
๐Ÿงช The competition consists of 6 rounds of science trivia that increase in difficulty!
๐Ÿงช The topics covered include:
1. Neuroscience and Psychology
2. Molecular Biology and Genetics
3. Physiology and Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology
4. Immunology and Microbiology
5. Biochemistry and Pharmacology
— ๐—˜๐—Ÿ๐—œ๐—š๐—œ๐—•๐—œ๐—Ÿ๐—œ๐—ง๐—ฌ —
Only undergraduate students at Canadian universities are eligible. Teams with members that have already received or are currently completing post-graduate or medical degrees are not eligible for the competition.
As the competition is ONLINE this year, things will run a little differently. The rounds will be tested using Zoom (https://zoom.us/download), so please make sure you have access to this during the event. Additionally, we strongly recommend that you have access to another online communication platform in order to privately communicate with your team of 4 throughout the event, such as Facebook Messenger, Discord, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, Google Hangouts, Skype, etc.
๐—ก๐—ผ๐˜๐—ฒ: This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be using an online format with questions which are answered live. This requires you to have stable internet connection during the competition. As you will be in teams of 4, only 1 member of your team will be responsible for submitting answers. We recommend that the team member with the best connection be the one to do so, as time is an important part of this competition.
For help on getting set up on Zoom, please see here: https://support.zoom.us/…/360034967471-Getting-started….
— ๐—ฅ๐—˜๐—š๐—œ๐—ฆ๐—ง๐—ฅ๐—”๐—ง๐—œ๐—ข๐—ก —
We have a limit of 40 teams this year, so make sure to form your teams and register as soon as you can! Alternatively, be sure to sign up individually ASAP to best ensure your chance of being on a complete team.
Please register on our Eventbrite page! For those registering with a pre-planned team, we ask that one member per team fill the Eventbrite form for all team members during registration. If you do not have a complete 4-person team formed prior to registering, we will add additional members to your team to make it complete.

GASP/Physiology Holiday Raffle
This year, more than ever, everyone needs some holiday cheer – not to mention charitable support. We are all so fortunate in our department to still be working during the pandemic and have financial, as well as personal security through the holidays. Many people do not and will need extra help during this stressful time. Thus we are running our holiday raffle online this year. As always, all donations go directly to the CHUM Christmas Wish.
Our prizes are exciting again this year with an Apple iPad 7th generation being donated by the department. We will prepare one ticket for $5, three tickets for $10, and eight tickets for each $20 donation – so please be as generous as you can. We appreciate the support! The tickets will be pulled and prizes will be announced during our online holiday celebrations with the department on Dec 14 from 12:30-2 pm.

This raffle is open to all students!
